TRUMPF History

TRUMPF is one of the pioneers in laser technology, still a rather young field. Back in 1971 already, the present TRUMPF Laser GmbH + Co. KG in Schramberg (formerly HAAS-LASER GmbH) commenced with the development of its own solid-state laser. In 1979, TRUMPF presented the first TRUMATIC laser cutting machine and 1985 saw the debut of its very first CO2 laser.

Milestones in the laser history of TRUMPF
Start of solid-state laser development at Carl Haas GmbH in Schramberg.
HAAS establishes its beam technology division, the origin of today's TRUMPF Laser GmbH + Co. KG.
TRUMPF introduces the first combination punch/laser machine, the TRUMATIC 180 L. The CO2 lasers with power ratings of 500 and 700 watts used at that time are imported from the USA.
TRUMPF launches the first of its own CO2 lasers, with 1 kilowatt laser power. In the same year, HAAS-LASER introduces the first industrial-use laser light cable for solid-state lasers.
The HAAS business division Beam Technology becomes HAAS-LASER GmbH + Co. KG, an independent company.
With the TRUMATIC L 3000, TRUMPF presents yet another innovation, a flatbed laser cutting system with flying optics.
Founding of TRUMPF Lasertechnik GmbH with focus on development and production of TRUMPF TLF CO2 lasers.
At the European Machine Tool Exhibition in Hanover, TRUMPF unveils the TLF turbo laser with a square-folded resonator.
HAAS-LASER expands its product range to include marking lasers.
Presentation of a cw multi-kilowatt solid-state laser as a study at the LASER 1991 trade show.
TRUMPF begins its participation in HAAS-LASER. As TRUMPF Laser, HAAS-LASER is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the TRUMPF Group.
Serial production of cw solid-state lasers starts with a 1kW unit.
TRUMPF launches the VectorMark compact, the first diode-pumped marking laser.
At the LASER trade show, TRUMPF presents the laboratory device of a diode-pumped disk laser with a laser power rating of 1 kilowatt. A revolution in solid-state lasers.
TRUMPF establishes a company specifically for the marking laser sector: TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG located in Grüsch, Switzerland.
HAAS-LASER GmbH + Co. KG changes its name to TRUMPF Laser GmbH + Co. KG.
TRUMPF presents the TCF1, a diffusion-cooled CO2 laser that is extremely compact and lightweight. In the same year, TRUMPF Lasertechnik GmbH and TRUMPF Systemtechnik GmbH merge to form TRUMPF Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH.
Market introduction of the 4 kW disk laser - new perspectives for example in laser scanner welding.
TRUMPF presents at the trade fair LASER in Munich a laser for micro processing, especially suited for finest drilling, ablating and structuring applications.
TRUMPF presents the 8 kW disk laser.
