Munich/Ditzingen, 06/20/2007 – The first trade show day for the TRUMPF Group at the „LASER 2007. World of Photonics“ in Munich, Germany was a successful one. It was crowned by an order of several disk lasers from DaimlerChrysler. The automotive company will implement them for the welding of body components. The Stuttgart-based company already uses disk lasers for the so called remote welding. Therefore, they decided to further rely on disk lasers for the process reliable and flexible welding of car components.
A programmable focusing optics (PFO), a scanner optics for laser welding, is integrated into a robot for remote welding. Mirrors position the laser beam extremely fast to any position within the processing field. This enables spot and seam welding without having to move the work piece or the focusing optics. In addition to the disk lasers, DaimlerChrysler also ordered several PFO from TRUMPF. Work can be done in a three-dimensional workspace and with three fast axes for a stationary optics. The world's leading trade show for optical technologies is held until June 21, 2007. More than 50 percent more visitors came to see the new TRUMPF booth on the first trade show day compared to the LASER trade show in 2005.
