With custom-tailored applications at PRODUCTRONICA, the TRUMPF Group is showing the quality and productivity of lasers in the electronics and photovoltaics industries. At the fair, TRUMPF is showing for the first time the new TruFiber 300 single mode fiber laser, which was first introduced in June, integrated into a application for precision processing. Integrated into the TruLaser Cell 3004 workstation, the TruFiber 300 will cut bronze leadframes with a thickness of 0.3 mm.

"With this master application, TRUMPF shows its fiber laser competency in an everyday industrial situation. The TruFiber convinces customers with high process speed and narrow welding seams and cutting kerfs," explains Alexander Hangst, Product Manager in the TRUMPF Laser Technology Division. The TruFiber 300 has a laser power of 300 W and is suitable primarily for precision processing. The finest welding – for example of fuel cells, membranes, sensors, airbag igniters and battery housings – is performed primarily with a welding depth of up to 2 mm. It is well-suited for scanner welding and always in demand wherever the application requires especially narrow welding seams.

During fine cutting, the TruFiber 300 generates a high quality cutting kerf typically between 20 and 70 micrometers. Preferred application area is the thin sheet processing, for example when cutting thin-walled tubes for endoscopes or in processing mobile phone housings.

The TruFiber 300 achieves a beam quality of M2 < 1.1, thereby supplementing the spectrum of pulsed lasers and cw lasers in the power range of less than 1 kW. With proven TRUMPF quality, the TruFiber 300 comes on the scene with reliable and industry-ready modular design, compatibility of the components and comfortable control and operation. From the laser to the optics, the manufacturer offers everything from one supplier. The separate design of the laser module and the supply unit makes it easy to integrate the laser module into machines and production equipment. If required, more than 20 meters can be in between the supply unit and the laser module, thus allowing for very flexible installation. Up to three laser modules can be connected to one supply unit. This allows economical operation with single mode beam quality at several workstations.

As with all TRUMPF solid-state lasers, the TRUMPF TelePresence Portal for the TruFiber 300 offers convenient and secure maintenance worldwide.

An overview of the convention offerings

In addition to this new arrival at the show, TRUMPF is also presenting appropriate solutions for the processing of silicon wafers, such as the TruMicro 7050 and TruMicro 3140 laser systems, which cut wafers and edge isolations. With the TruMark Series 6000 and the TruMicro 7050, TRUMPF offers solutions for thin layer solar cells to master the structuring and edge stripping of modules with the highest reliability and productivity. TRUMPF also offers picosecond lasers of the TruMicro 5000 series for when precision with high productivity is required. And, for quality assurance in production and product tracing, lasers of the TruMark Series 3000 and 6000 mark and code electronic and photovoltaic components of various materials. They are available in three different wavelengths. Finally, new TruPulse models expand the series of pulsed solid-state lasers introduced only one year ago. The TruPulse Series now includes twelve different models whose average power ranges from 20 W to more than 500 W.
